Do you love me

Jesus asks Simon Peter three times: Do you love me, to which Simon Peter answers: Yes lord.  To which Jesus asks him to tend his sheep, feed his lambs and feed his sheep.  In the time of Jesus the most expensive thing to raise where sheep, the most precious thing where lambs.

But is Jesus asks Peter to actually care for sheep and lambs?  He is asking Peter to care for something far more previous, his followers; us, and we what are to do?  Do the same for ourselves and our families.
