This morning the Gospel truly spoke to the Queen in me, the ruler, the guide, and to the Priest that person who nurtures. And it spoke to me because I have not always been so loving and so I wonder why my sheep still follow me? The gatekeeper opens it for him, and the sheep hear his voice, as he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he has driven out all his own, he walks ahead of them, and the sheep follow him, because they recognize his voice. John 10: 3 -4
The image of a gatekeeper opening the gate to the shepard: the gate the world, the keeper the Divine, and of course the Shepard for this morning, are us: moms. We guide and nurture our sheep so that they can go out into the world and be who they are meant to be. Our children we know by name and from the moment they are born our babies will turn their heads to the sound of our voice; they know us even in the womb!
But there are times when we find ourselves not as loving or supportive as we should be, at that time we feel embarrassed by our actions which is the way we know that there is something to change to make us better leader and nurturer
